07.17.2008 - Another Review
There's a review up, this time for The Smoking Popes' latest, Stay Down. Got your Pansy Division screening tickets yet????

07.16.2008 - More Updates!
We've got a show review up for the Ladytron concert last month at The Fillmore (TLA), which also concludes a mini-review for the band's most recent LP, Velocifero. Be sure to check that out! Also, there's a new edition of Jesus Soup. Just look to the right for that one. Finally, remember that the screening of Pansy Division: Life In A Gay Rock Band is this Friday night, followed by a special 21+ show at The Troc. It will most likely be the band's last and only appearance in Philly this year, so be sure to head out! You can read more about and order tickets to the film screening and show at the following link: http://www.phillyfests.com/piglff/2008/home.cfm

07.14.2008 - We're Back!
We're back with considerable updates, after a considerably busy period for the entire Cheap Shot! staff. We've got a whole slew of stuff for you here today, though, folks. First off, the Shows page is completely up to date, featuring some great new additions. We've also got two new album reviews (listed to the right and under Featured Articles page). Finally, there's an interview with Jon Ginoli of the band Pansy Division. That band will be performing in Philly this Friday, at The Troc, following the screening of Pansy Division: Life In A Gay Rock Band at the Philadelphia International Gay and Lesbian Film Festival. Your ticket from the film screening gets you $5 off at the door for the concert. Go order your tickets and then come back here to check out the interview. And sorry, guys, but the show is 21+. We're pretty sure the band will be back next year, though, for another great all ages performance! (The new Pansy Division album is apparently coming along great!!)

Check back soon. We've got another contest on the way!

06.09.2008 - New Reviews
Two new reviews have been posted - one for the red hot Ting Tings, and the other for Priscilla Ahn, whose debut album drops today on Blue Note Records. Tomorrow night, Cheap Shot! staff will be at the JayMay show at the Tin Angel. Coverage will be posted later in the week.

06.07.2008 - Slow Enough for You?!
When we said "later this week," we meant "sometime in the first week of June." Nonetheless, we've got a few new articles for you, Cheap Shot! loyalists. To the right, as well as on the Featured Articles page, we've got reports on a recent concert and another pro wrestling event. We've also put up our first ever FIVE STAR (really five "CHEAP SHOT") album review on Cheap Shot! Isn't that exciting??

Also, summer time is arguably the most exciting time of year for music nuts. Of course, the reason for this is SUMMER TOURS!!!! That's right, we've updated the concert page with all the best upcoming shows. From June through October. That is, until more shows are inevitably announced and we get around to posting them. More soon. No, seriously. We swear on our mothers' favorite hats.

05.06.2008 - Fast Enough for You?!
Here's the first part of what we promised earlier this evening: added to the Featured Articles page, a review of The Republic Tigers' debut LP, Keep Color, out today on Chop Shop Records. Go check it out!

05.06.2008 - More to Come
The Great Kate Nash Giveaway has officially ended! Thanks to those who submitted. We'll try to have some more great giveaways for you soon. Later in the week: new album reviews, as well as massive updates to the Shows page. As well as, perhaps, an additional surprise or two!

04.22.2008 - Earth Day Update!
While we can't give you those solar window panels or electric car you've been coveting, we CAN give you a unique update - another true first here at Cheap Shot! Philly. An oft-overlooked part of the city's cultural landscape, independent wrestling is one phenomenon which has consistently flourished in the City of Brotherly Love for the past couple decades. In the current pack, there is a truly entertaining force in CHIKARA - an Allentown-based promotion which runs monthly shows in South Philly. Check out the review of this past Sunday's show here and, if you like athleticism, excitement, laughter, and fun, check out CHIKARA. It's a great way to spend an afternoon or evening, even if you're not a wrestling fan!

04.19.2008 - Big Interview Posted / Contest
Cheap Shot! scored an interview with Joe Jack Talcum, currently of The Low Budgets and The Cheesies, and formerly, of course, of The Dead Milkmen. Joe's been a very important part of the Philly music scene, and this interview with him covered many of his numerous projects and, we hope, provided some insight into various musical, well...things. Seriously, it's an entertaining read, as Joe is a very intelligent and entertaining guy. If you aren't familiar with him, what are you waiting for? Go read the interview! On the Features. Here's the direct link. Also, we have a big contest coming up this week. Stay tuned to the site in the next couple days for details!

04.03.2008 - Spring Forward!
With an update, of course. We've got a review up from last week's Say Anything show at The TLA / Fillmore / Whatever-You-Call-It-Now. Go read it!
